Mission
The station aims at serving the farming community in Kuttanad by developing technologies for increasing crop productivity and reducing cost of cultivation. and deals with research on rice in Kuttanad ecosystem. The station also aims to support the farmers of Kuttanad through appropriate soil and plant health management practices and effective control of pests and diseases in rice. The station is also functioning as a unit of All India Co-ordinated Research Project on Rice under Indian Institute of Rice Research, Hyderabad since 1974.
The station plays a lead role in producing quality seeds of various rice varieties to meet the farmers demand
Multi Disciplinary Diagnostic Team visits are conducted for diagnosing field problems when required
Farmer- Scientist interaction programmes are conducted every month for addressing the field problems faced by the farmers
Bio control agents, organic manures, multi nutrient mixtures, vegetable seeds, planting materials are produced in the station for sale through the sales counter
Analysis of soil samples, water samples, lime samples are done in the analytical laboratory and soil test based fertilizer recommendations are given for crops
Weekly forecast of weather data and Agro-Advisories are displayed for the benefit of farmers
